Geodon (Ziprasidone) is an antipsychotic pharmaceutical that works by altering the effects of chemicals in the brain. Geodon is used to treat schizophrenia and manic symptoms of bipolar disorder (manic depression) in adults and children who are at least 10 years old.

Geodon safety information

The drug has a number of contraindications, which must be read before making a decision on taking the medicine.

Geodon cannot be given to people with an allergy to Ziprasidone.

People who have a heart rhythm disorder and uncontrolled heart failure cannot use Geodon. Also, it cannot be taken if the person has had a heart attack or suffered prolonged Long QT syndrome (also relates to heart rhythm disturbances, which is dangerous for health and life). Patients who have had cases of prolonged Long QT syndrome in the family should also not receive Geodon therapy.

• Breast cancer;
• Low levels of potassium or magnesium in the blood;
• Diabetes (Geodon may increase blood sugar levels);

• Alzheimer's disease;
• Swallowing problems;
• Kidney liver disease.
