Product Description
Doxazosin enhances the widening of blood vessels (vasodilation) by selective and competitive alpha blockade of α1 adrenergic receptors.
Unlike unselective α1 adrenergic receptor blockers, long use of Doxazosin does not cause addiction.

Indications:
- benign enlargement of the prostate gland.
- doxazosin is taken to treat frequent and/or poor passing of urine caused by benign enlargement of the prostate gland. In patients with benign enlargement of the prostate gland, Doxazosin is prescribed to both-patients with high blood pressure (hypertension) and those who have optimal blood pressure rate. In patients with arterial hypertension and benign enlargement of the prostate gland, Doxazosin is effective in treatments of both diseases);
- arterial hypertension (Doxazosin is used for treatment of arterial hypertension. In case using Doxazosin for treatment of high blood pressure as monotherapy is not effective, medication can be combined with other antihypertensive drugs such as thiazide diuretics, β-blockers, Calcium channel blockers (CCB), angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor (ACE inhibitors)
How to use Doxazosin
The course of treatment and dose is prescribed to every patient individually. Therapeutic dose varies from 0,001g to 0,016g per day. The average dose of Doxazosin is 0,002-0,004g per day and has to be taken once during the day. During the first 1-2 weeks of treatment, medication is prescribed in initial dose 0,001g per day. Later, the dose can be increased to 0,002g per day during the next two weeks. If necessary, depending on the level of blood pressure, the daily intake dose can be increased gradually to 0,004-0,016g.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to quinazolines. There is still not enough data yet on using Doxazosin in patients with arterial hypertension during pregnancy and in the period of lactation. Therefore, despite experimental studies have not reported on teratogenic and embryogenic effects, Doxazosin can be prescribed during pregnancy and breastfeeding only after considering correlation between benefit and risk.
Doxazosin is cautiously used in patients with impaired liver function, aortic and mitral stenosis, orthostatic hypotension.
Side effects
Asthenia, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, nausea, rhinitis, swelling, asthenia, fatigue, malaise. In rare cases, incontinence.
