Drug uses
Antiplatelet agent Aggrenox is indicated for prophylaxis of acute stroke to patients already experienced mini-stroke or stroke. The drug prevents platelets clump together and enhances a vasodilating effect of the endogenous nucleoside adenosine.
The drug should be prescribed to adult patients (aged over 16 years), except for cases of Kawasaki disease in infancy and childhood. Aggrenox is not usually recommended to pregnant and breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary.
To protect tiny blood vessels in the brain, it is advised to use two Aggrenox pills a day orally. The drug should be taken with or without food at regular intervals. Sometimes a vasodilating effect of Aggrenox causes side effects (for example, headaches). Temporary reduction in dosage to one pill a day usually easily alleviates headache.
Missed dose
A missed dose is defined as one that is more than 8-12 hours late. Having missed to take one or more pills, the regular dosing schedule should be followed. Do not take two pills too close together.

Aggrenox is a combined drug, sustained-release, containing two active anti-platelet agents. Aggrenox Side effects
