Most indications for the use of such glucocorticoids as Medrol are due to their anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive and anti-allergic properties. Due to these properties, the following therapeutic effects are achieved: reduction of the number of immune cells in the vicinity of inflammation; reduction of vasodilation; stabilization of lysosomal membranes; inhibition of phagocytosis; reduction of production of prostaglandins and related compounds.
